Hug is an excellent opportunity to tell a different story each time you read the book. Have children participate in telling the story, make one up as you go along, or simply have children look at the pages and think about what they are seeing.

To complement the ever-evolving and imaginative nature of this book, there are no storyline in the description column of Hug. The description simply lists the animal that accompanies each pose – use them where appropriate throughout the book.

Elephant – hang hands low and together to create the elephant’s trunk.

Lizards – create the lizards long tail.

Remember to do both sides.

Gently rock back-and-forth as playful cheetah cubs.

Giraffes – remember to do both sides.

Remember to do two hugs, once with each arm on top.

Think about your feelings (happy, sad, scared, etc.)

Feeling happy and safe.
