The Gruffalo

Julia Donaldson

You can find this story as a part of the Monster Mania lesson plan!

Little yogis will also love the sequel to this book, The Gruffalo’s Child.

Begin by forming the deep dark wood…

A fox saw the mouse…

Open eyes wide!

The gruffalo has “terrible tusks, and terrible claws, and and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws.”

Send the fox’s tail up as he races away – remember to do both sides!

An owl saw the mouse…

Jump out to show the gruffalo’s “knobbly knees, and turned out toes”, and feel the wart on the end of his nose.

Away owl flew – remember to do both sides!

A snake saw the mouse…

Feel eyes turn orange and tongue turn black, then grow purple prickles all over your back!

It’s time snake hid – slide into snake’s log pile house.

Form the deep dark wood…

Snake returns to his log pile house!

Fly right up to owl’s treetop house – remember to do both sides!

Hurry into fox’s underground house!

Blow a big wind, as the gruffalo flees.

Enjoy the quiet of the deep dark wood.
