There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Chick

Lucille Colandro

An Easter twist on a classic song! Kids love the silliness of these themed yoga poses when you add activities and singing to story time!

To encourage breathing and group participation, engage children to learn the new verses, and sing along with you.

For an added challenge, have children run through each pose at the end of the book!

Gently flap your chick wings and give a little “peep peep!”

Let arms and legs sway, as pieces of straw flow down into the old lady’s tummy!

Form your body into the shape of in egg!

On the count of three, tell me what color your egg is… 1 -2-3!

Curl your body up into a jelly bean, and roll the candy down into the old lady’s tummy.

See if you can roll your body back up, and then do it again!

Step your feet apart to form the basket and the handle.

Could you swallow this big basket?

Carefully tie a fancy bow, and put it on your back!

Jump up and down!

If you don’t have space to jump around, you can either jump in place or keep your hands on the floor and straighten your legs a couple of times.

It’s the Easter Bunny!

Grow your long rabbit ears, and say “thanks!” for the Easter basket.

Happy spring!
